GROOMING REPORT FOR 1/7/2026

Your volunteer CMNSC crew (Topher and Steve), along with Jess from the Forest Service, completed a successful, if abbreviated, grooming run on Tuesday, 1/6/26. For the first run of the season, and after a thorough “pre-flight” inspection of the groomer, we made slow and careful tracks across the Sage Valley snowmobile trail to Deer Hollow, checking to make sure there was sufficient snow cover across the whole route. Snow depth was a good 2 feet or more along the route, except for some thin stretches in the open sage flat in Sage Valley.

We reached Deer Hollow at 12:30 and began packing out the perimeter trails, with Jess on the snowmobile followed by the groomer. Once we were confident of sufficient snow cover, we put the tiller down and laid corduroy across the Hollow Trail to the West Draw, then up the West Drew to the Outback Trail, then east and back to the Dolomite Trail, continuing east to the Navajo Overlook. We completed the perimeter trails loop, heading west on the Claron Trail to the East Draw, returning to the base area. Then we went back out to groom the Sinks Trail around the meadow loop before we ran out of time and began the 1-1/2 hour return to Midway.

The parking lot remains UNPLOWED and should not be attempted without a high clearance 4-wheel drive with good tires and a SHOVEL. Please look for an upcoming post on the fundraiser by the River House Band at the BlackBird Bar in Cedar City on FEBRUARY 7th to raise funds for snow removal at Deer Hollow!

Moving to Cedar soon and want to volunteer as much as a can. Actively skied Northern Utah for 35 years: Millcreek, SR 65, Mountain Dell, and Round Valley mostly. Love West Yellowstone when I can get there, and Bryce when it has snow. Skiing has been terrible in No UT this year. Bringing my skis, mountain bike, and fat bike near the time of the fundraiser. Hope we get fresh snow by then.
