GROOMING REPORT FOR 1/9/26

It was a good day to groom!

The club’s grooming crew was at it all day today and got it all done! (Almost). Corduroy was laid on all trails except the snowshoe trail and Aspen. Classic tracks were set on all groomed trails except for Basalt and Claron. High winds caused lots of drifting, and blowing snow was already covering the grooming shortly after our pass, but the trails are in good condition and should set up nicely overnight for some good skiing over the weekend.

Problems persist with clearing the parking lot. Club member Andy Osterhout came up from Duck Creek with his plow truck, only to find that a couple of bozos in a snowcat groomer (including yours truly) had inadvertently compacted the snow by driving into the parking area to access the trail system. The compacted snow made it almost impossible for Andy to clear the lot, which he was doing out of the goodness of his heart. He was able to clear most of the north side of the parking lot, but the south side remains unplowed. So sorry, Andy! We’ll try to find another way up onto the trail system without treading across the parking lot.

UDOT plows were working on Hwy 14 today to clear wind blown drifts, and when it came time to turn around at the county line, a car was parked in the middle of the widest part of the snowplow turnaround. If you park in the snowplow turnaround on a day when you’re not sure if UDOT will be working, please park on the far ends of the turnaround, and not in the widest part, to make it easier for them to turn around those behemoth snowplows.
